Imam pesmu da vam pevam

At age 6, Ivanka was chosen by fairy women to fall into trance in order to enter the realm of the dead and learn secrets about the future. At age 60, the spirits left her.

Imam pesmu da vam pevam/I Have a Song to Sing You interweaves ethnographic archive materials from her days as a prophet with contemporary footage shot now that the supernatural forces have left her. This experimental short plays on dualities of time and ontology to explore how this experience has affected her relationship to the landscape that surrounds her, while engaging in a meta discourse on the digital nature of film and visualisation of memory.

The film was funded by the London Short Film Festival as part of their “With Teeth” scheme to support non-conformist independent filmmaking. There were over 45 festival screenings to date, among which: Go Short (Netherlands), GoEast (Germany), Filmadrid (Spain), Kannibal Fest (Germany and Colombia), Karlovci (Serbia), Strangloscope (Brazil), Found Footage Works (Cyprus), Film Fest Zell (Austria), Balkan Film Food Festival (Albania), Tuzla Film Festival (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Furora Film Festival (Germany), Luksuz (Slovenia), Neverland Cinema (Netherlands), Dortmund | Cologne International Women’s Film (Germany), Short Movie Club Film Festival – Unfiltered (Belarus), Balkantage München (Germany), Experiments in Cinema (USA).
